For autumn/winter 2026, Odlo presents the Base Layer System: a clear, intuitive framework that helps people find the right base layer for their way of moving, their preferred feel and the conditions ahead.

As the foundation of any layering system, the right base layer helps regulate temperature, manage moisture and enable unrestricted freedom of movement. Yet choosing one can seem complex. Odlo’s new system simplifies the decision by starting not with an individual sport but with activity intensity – from everyday activities, hiking and skiing to running, cross-country skiing and ski touring.

The system then guides users through technology and fit before fine-tuning the choice by warmth level. The result is a clear, confident route to next-to-skin comfort and performance – built on eight decades of Odlo expertise.

The first step focuses on the activity and how hard the body is working. Low to medium intensity covers everyday movement, hiking, skiing and slower-paced adventures, while high intensity includes running, fast hiking, cross-country skiing and ski touring. This distinction narrows the choice to base layers that offer either reliable comfort or the greater breathability and faster drying needed for intense exertion.

Odlo’s three technology families offer different approaches to next-to-skin performance. Active provides versatile, reliable comfort with a close fit. The Merino options range from 100% merino wool for adaptable comfort, temperature regulation and odour control to merino blends that combine natural softness with technical fibres for improved durability and performance. Performance base layers use seamless constructions, exceptional breathability and quick-drying materials for high-intensity activities – with a slim, body-hugging fit.

The final step matches warmth level to conditions and activity intensity. X-Light is ultralight and highly breathable for very warm conditions; Light offers breathable, lightweight comfort in mild to warm weather; Warm combines insulation and breathability in colder weather; and X-Warm provides maximum insulation in extreme cold. A lighter option may be more suitable for high-intensity activities, while lower-intensity movement may require more warmth.
