“L’autre versant”: The new film is out

Tales from the Chamonix backcountry

In the seventies, a skier skinned up the Mont Blanc massif with nothing but skis and the need to see what lay past the ridge. He came down faces that had only ever been climbed, and the way he opened has stayed open ever since. Today, a new generation reads his lines on their own terms. Five minutes, watch it now.

Ski touring goes after the line nobody has drawn. Two skis and a rope partner are enough to find out what waits past the ridge. The Ubac is shaped for that: it's the ski the film's new generation chose to follow in their predecessor's tracks.
